1 'Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, also in me believe; “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
2 in the house of my Father are many mansions; and if not, I would have told you; I go on to prepare a place for you; In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
3 and if I go on and prepare for you a place, again do I come, and will receive you unto myself, that where I am ye also may be; And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
4 and whither I go away ye have known, and the way ye have known.' And you know the way to where I am going.” You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas saith to him, 'Sir, we have not known whither thou goest away, and how are we able to know the way?' Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus saith to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me; Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 if ye had known me, my Father also ye would have known, and from this time ye have known Him, and have seen Him.' If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip saith to him, 'Sir, shew to us the Father, and it is enough for us;' Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus saith to him, 'So long time am I with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? he who hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how dost thou say, Shew to us the Father? Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? the sayings that I speak to you, from myself I speak not, and the Father who is abiding in me, Himself doth the works; Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11 believe me, that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and if not, because of the works themselves, believe me. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.
12 'Verily, verily, I say to you, he who is believing in me, the works that I do -- that one also shall do, and greater than these he shall do, because I go on to my Father; “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 and whatever ye may ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 if ye ask anything in my name I will do it. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15 'If ye love me, my commands keep, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. “If you love me, keep my commands.
16 and I will ask the Father, and another Comforter He will give to you, that he may remain with you -- to the age; And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it doth not behold him, nor know him, and ye know him, because he doth remain with you, and shall be in you. even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
18 'I will not leave you bereaved, I come unto you; “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
19 yet a little, and the world doth no more behold me, and ye behold me, because I live, and ye shall live; Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
20 in that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you; In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
21 he who is having my commands, and is keeping them, that one it is who is loving me, and he who is loving me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.' Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Judas saith to him, (not the Iscariot), 'Sir, what hath come to pass, that to us thou are about to manifest thyself, and not to the world?' Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23 Jesus answered and said to him, 'If any one may love me, my word he will keep, and my Father will love him, and unto him we will come, and abode with him we will make; Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
24 he who is not loving me, my words doth not keep; and the word that ye hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 'These things I have spoken to you, remaining with you, “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. “All this I have spoken while still with you.
26 and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
27 'Peace I leave to you; my peace I give to you, not according as the world doth give do I give to you; let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid; Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 ye heard that I said to you -- I go away, and I come unto you; if ye did love me, ye would have rejoiced that I said -- I go on to the Father, because my Father is greater than I. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have said it to you before it come to pass, that when it may come to pass, ye may believe; And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.
30 I will no more talk much with you, for the ruler of this world doth come, and in me he hath nothing; I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,
31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and according as the Father gave me command so I do; arise, we may go hence. but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here. but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come now; let us leave.
