1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said:And the Lord God answered Job, and said, And the LORD said to Job: The LORD said to Job:
2 Shall he that reproveth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.Will any one pervert judgment with the Mighty One? and he that reproves God, let him return it for answer. “Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.” “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!”
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said:And Job answered and said to the Lord, Then Job answered the LORD and said: Then Job answered the LORD:
4 Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer Thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.Why do I yet plead? being rebuked even while reproving the Lord: hearing such things, whereas I am nothing: and what shall I answer to these arguments ? I will lay my hand upon my mouth. “Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken, but I will not answer again; Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.I have spoken once; but I will not do so a second time. I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.” I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.”
6 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm:
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto Me. “Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
8 Wilt thou even make void My judgment? Wilt thou condemn Me, that thou mayest be justified? Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? “Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?
9 Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like Him? Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his? Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his?
10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency, And array thyself with glory and beauty. “Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor. Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath; And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him. Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him. Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low,

14 Then will I also confess unto thee That thine own right hand can save thee. Then will I also acknowledge to you that your own right hand can save you. Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; He eateth grass as an ox. “Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. “Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the stays of his body. Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly!
17 He straineth his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
18 His bones are as pipes of brass; His gristles are like bars of iron. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron. Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like rods of iron.
19 He is the beginning of the ways of God; He only that made him can make His sword to approach unto him. “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, And all the beasts of the field play there. For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play. The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
21 He lieth under the lotus-trees, In the covert of the reed, and fens. Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh. Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotus-trees cover him with their shadow; The willows of the brook compass him about. For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him. The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it.
23 Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; He is confident, though the Jordan rush forth to his mouth. Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened; he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth. A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.
24 Shall any take him by his eyes, Or pierce through his nose with a snare? Can one take him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with a snare? Can anyone capture it by the eyes, or trap it and pierce its nose?
