1 And YHWH answered Job and said, And the LORD said to Job: The LORD said to Job:
2 “Is a reprover to contend with Shaddai? One rebuking God, let him answer it.” “Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.” “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!”
3 And Job answered YHWH and said, Then Job answered the LORD and said: Then Job answered the LORD:
4 “Behold, I am slight. How can I reply to You? My hand I place over my mouth. “Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
5 Once I have spoken, and I will not answer—and twice, and I will not add.” I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.” I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.”
6 And YHWH answered Job from the whirlwind, and He said, Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm:
7 “Gird up now your loins like a man; I will question you, and you shall let Me know. “Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
8 Would you even break My judgment? Would you consider Me wicked so that you may be proved right? Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? “Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?
9 Is there an arm like God’s unto you? Or with a voice like His can you thunder? Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his? Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his?
10 Adorn yourself, please, with majesty and loftiness, and with honor and glory clothe yourself. “Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor. Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.
11 Scatter the fury of your nose, and look on every proud one, and bring him low. Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him. Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low,

14 And then I will confess to you that your right hand can bring salvation to you. Then will I also acknowledge to you that your own right hand can save you. Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
15 Behold, please, Behemoth, which I made with you; he eats grass like the ox. “Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. “Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
16 Behold, please, his strength is in his loins, and his power is in the muscles of his belly. Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly!
17 He bends his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
18 His bones are tubes of bronze; his limbs are like bars of iron. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron. Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like rods of iron.
19 He is the first of the ways of God; his Maker can bring near His sword. “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
20 For the mountains carry produce to him, and all the creatures of the field play there. For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play. The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
21 Beneath the lotus trees he lies down, in the covering of reed and marsh. Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh. Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotus trees cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him. For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him. The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it.
23 Though the river may press, he does not hurry off; he is secure, though the Jordan should burst forth toward his mouth. Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened; he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth. A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.
24 Can one take him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with snares? Can one take him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with a snare? Can anyone capture it by the eyes, or trap it and pierce its nose?
