1 For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away. Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
2 For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every trespass and disobedience received a just penalty, For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,
3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? That salvation, first spoken by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him?
7 YOU HAVE MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS; You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor, You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor
8 YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET.” For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him. putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. and put everything under their feet.” In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. 9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels—Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. 10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of One; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers, For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.
12 saying, “I WILL RECOUNT YOUR NAME TO MY BROTHERS, IN THE MIDST OF THE ASSEMBLY I WILL SING YOUR PRAISE.” saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.”
13 And again, “I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM.” And again, “BEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.”
14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—
15 and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
16 For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the seed of Abraham. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants.
17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brothers in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to help those who are tempted.
