| 4 | וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹסֵ֧ף אֶל־ אֶחָ֛יו גְּשׁוּ־ נָ֥א אֵלַ֖י וַיִּגָּ֑שׁוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֲנִי֙ יוֹסֵ֣ף אֲחִיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־ מְכַרְתֶּ֥ם אֹתִ֖י מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃ | So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. | Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! | |
| 5 | וְעַתָּ֣ה ׀ אַל־ תֵּעָ֣צְב֗וּ וְאַל־ יִ֙חַר֙ בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם כִּֽי־ מְכַרְתֶּ֥ם אֹתִ֖י הֵ֑נָּה כִּ֣י לְמִֽחְיָ֔ה שְׁלָחַ֥נִי אֱלֹהִ֖ים לִפְנֵיכֶֽם׃ | And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. | And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. | |
| 6 | כִּי־ זֶ֛ה שְׁנָתַ֥יִם הָרָעָ֖ב בְּקֶ֣רֶב הָאָ֑רֶץ וְעוֹד֙ חָמֵ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵין־ חָרִ֖ישׁ וְקָצִּֽיר׃ | For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are yet five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. | For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. | |
| 7 | וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֤נִי אֱלֹהִים֙ לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם לָשׂ֥וּם לָכֶ֛ם שְׁאֵרִ֖ית בָּאָ֑רֶץ וּלְהַחֲי֣וֹת לָכֶ֔ם לִפְלֵיטָ֖ה גְּדֹלָֽה׃ | And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. | But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. | |
