1 WOULD any of you, having a lawsuit against his brother, dare to go to trial before the wicked rather than before the saints? When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people?
2 Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is to be judged by you, are you not worthy to judge small affairs? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more then should we judge those who belong to this world? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
4 You have worldly affairs to be settled, and yet you have put men of bad reputation in the church on the judgment seat. So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church?
5 I say this to you to make you feel ashamed. Is it so, that there is not a single wise man among you, who could settle a dispute between a brother and his brother? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?
6 But brother goes to court against brother, and at that before unbelievers. but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? But instead, one brother takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!
7 Now therefore you are already at fault because you go to court one with another. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather let yourselves be defrauded? To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
8 No, you yourselves do wrong, and defraud even your brethren. But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers! Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
9 Do you not know that the wicked shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not misled: neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the corrupt, nor men who lie down with males, Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
10 Nor extortioners, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor grafters, shall inherit the kingdom of God. nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And some of these evils were to be found in some of you, but you have been cleansed, and have been sanctified, and made righteous in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, and through the Spirit of our God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. And that is what some of you were. 12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not advisable for me: indeed all things are lawful for me but I will not be brought under the power of any. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything|—but I will not be mastered by anything.
13 Food is for the belly, and the belly for food: but God will do away with both of them. Now the body is not meant for fornication, but for our LORD; and our LORD for the body. “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 And as God has raised our LORD, so he will raise us also by his own power. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
15 Do you not know that your bodies are the members of Christ? How then can one take a member of Christ and make it the member of a harlot? Far be it. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
16 Or do you not know that he who joins his body to a harlot is one body with her? For it is said, The two shall become one body. Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
17 But he who unites himself with our LORD becomes one with him in spirit. But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18 Keep away from fornication. Every sin that a man commits, is outside his body; but he who commits adultery sins against his own body. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit that dwells within you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, because they belong to God. for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
