Psalm 82
NLT Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationNET Bible
1God presides over heaven’s court; he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings:1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment.
2“How long will you hand down unjust decisions by favoring the wicked? Interlude2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah)
3“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!
4Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked!
5But these oppressors know nothing; they are so ignorant! They wander about in darkness, while the whole world is shaken to the core.5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.
6I say, ‘You are gods; you are all children of the Most High.6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.'
7But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.’”7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers."
8Rise up, O God, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations.
