Psalm 82
NLT Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationEnglish Standard Version
1God presides over heaven’s court; he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings:1God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
2“How long will you hand down unjust decisions by favoring the wicked? Interlude2“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
3“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.3Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.4Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
5But these oppressors know nothing; they are so ignorant! They wander about in darkness, while the whole world is shaken to the core.5They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6I say, ‘You are gods; you are all children of the Most High.6I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you;
7But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.’”7nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.”
8Rise up, O God, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.8Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!
