New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! | 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. |
The LORD looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. | 2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. |
But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! | 3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. |
Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to the LORD. | 4Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. |
Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey him. | 5There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. |
The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD will protect his people. | 6Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. |
Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the LORD restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice. | 7Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. |
