New Living Translation | English Standard Version |
Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! | 1The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. |
The LORD looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. | 2The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. |
But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! | 3They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. |
Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to the LORD. | 4Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD? |
Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey him. | 5There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. |
The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD will protect his people. | 6You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge. |
Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the LORD restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice. | 7Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. |
