Psalm 124
NLT Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationEnglish Standard Version
1What if the LORD had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat:1If it had not been the LORD who was on our side— let Israel now say—
2What if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us?2if it had not been the LORD who was on our side when people rose up against us,
3They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger.3then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us;
4The waters would have engulfed us; a torrent would have overwhelmed us.4then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;
5Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives.5then over us would have gone the raging waters.
6Praise the LORD, who did not let their teeth tear us apart!6Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth!
7We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free!7We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!
8Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.8Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
