New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. | 1For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David. I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will recount all Your wonders. |
I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High. | 2I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. |
My enemies retreated; they staggered and died when you appeared. | 3When my enemies retreat, they stumble and perish before You. |
For you have judged in my favor; from your throne you have judged with fairness. | 4For You have upheld my just cause; You sit on Your throne judging righteously. |
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have erased their names forever. | 5You have rebuked the nations; You have destroyed the wicked; You have erased their name forever and ever. |
The enemy is finished, in endless ruins; the cities you uprooted are now forgotten. | 6The enemy has come to eternal ruin, and You have uprooted their cities; the very memory of them has vanished. |
But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. | 7But the LORD abides forever; He has established His throne for judgment. |
He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness. | 8He judges the world with justice; He governs the people with equity. |
The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. | 9The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. |
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you. | 10Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. |
Sing praises to the LORD who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about his unforgettable deeds. | 11Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; proclaim His deeds among the nations. |
For he who avenges murder cares for the helpless. He does not ignore the cries of those who suffer. | 12For the Avenger of bloodshed remembers; He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted. |
LORD, have mercy on me. See how my enemies torment me. Snatch me back from the jaws of death. | 13Be merciful to me, O LORD; see how my enemies afflict me! Lift me up from the gates of death, |
Save me so I can praise you publicly at Jerusalem’s gates, so I can rejoice that you have rescued me. | 14that I may declare all Your praises—that within the gates of Daughter Zion I may rejoice in Your salvation. |
The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set. | 15The nations have fallen into a pit of their making; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden. |
The LORD is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. Quiet Interlude | 16The LORD is known by the justice He brings; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands. Higgaion Selah |
The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God. | 17The wicked will return to Sheol—all the nations who forget God. |
But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed. | 18For the needy will not always be forgotten; nor the hope of the oppressed forever dashed. |
Arise, O LORD! Do not let mere mortals defy you! Judge the nations! | 19Rise up, O LORD, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your presence. |
Make them tremble in fear, O LORD. Let the nations know they are merely human. Interlude | 20Lay terror upon them, O LORD; let the nations know they are but men. Selah |
