Psalm 52
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
1To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of David when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.1Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?
2Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.2All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies.
3You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah3You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. Interlude
4You love all devouring words, You deceitful tongue.4You love to destroy others with your words, you liar!
5God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah5But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and uproot you from the land of the living. Interlude
6The righteous also shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him, saying,6The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say,
7“Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness.”7“Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.”
8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.8But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
9I will praise You forever, Because You have done it; And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good.9I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people.
