Psalm 52
NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
1To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of David when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.1For the director of music. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite had gone to Saul and told him: "David has gone to the house of Ahimelek." Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
2Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.2You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.
3You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah3You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
4You love all devouring words, You deceitful tongue.4You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!
5God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah5Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living.
6The righteous also shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him, saying,6The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying,
7“Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness.”7"Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!"
8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.8But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.
9I will praise You forever, Because You have done it; And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good.9For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good.
