New King James Version | New Living Translation |
To the Chief Musician. With flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. | 1O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. |
Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. | 2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. |
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. | 3Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. |
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. | 4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked. |
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. | 5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil. |
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. | 6You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers. |
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. | 7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe. |
Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face. | 8Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow. |
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue. | 9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery. |
Pronounce them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, For they have rebelled against You. | 10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. |
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. | 11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. |
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. | 12For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love. |
