To the Chief Musician. With flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. | 1Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing. |
Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. | 2Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to you. |
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. | 3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you and watch expectantly. |
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. | 4For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with you. |
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. | 5The boastful cannot stand in your sight; you hate all evildoers. |
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. | 6You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors violent and treacherous people. |
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. | 7But I enter your house by the abundance of your faithful love; I bow down toward your holy temple in reverential awe of you. |
Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face. | 8LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my adversaries; make your way straight before me. |
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue. | 9For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues. |
Pronounce them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, For they have rebelled against You. | 10Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against you. |
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. | 11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May you shelter them, and may those who love your name boast about you. |
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. | 12For you, LORD, bless the righteous one; you surround him with favor like a shield. |
