New King James Version | English Standard Version |
To the Chief Musician. With flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. | 1Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. |
Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. | 2Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. |
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. | 3O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. |
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. | 4For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. |
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. | 5The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. |
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. | 6You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. |
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. | 7But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. |
Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face. | 8Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. |
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue. | 9For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. |
Pronounce them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, For they have rebelled against You. | 10Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you. |
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. | 11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. |
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. | 12For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. |
