Psalm 4
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
1To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.1Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah2How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude
3But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The LORD will hear when I call to Him.3You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him.
4Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah4Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude
5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD.5Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD.
6There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.6Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, LORD.
7You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.7You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
8I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.
