| 1Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. | 1Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelites is for their salvation. |
| 2For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. | 2For I can testify that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not in line with the truth. |
