NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine:1But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;2Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.
the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—3Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good,
that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,4and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,
to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.5to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded,6Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.
in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,7Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity,
sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.8and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back,9Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,
not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.10not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,
teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,12training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,13waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.15Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
