| 1But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. | 1About the times and the seasons: Brothers and sisters, you do not need anything to be written to you. |
| 2For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. | 2For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. |
| 3For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. | 3When they say, "Peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. |
| 4But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. | 4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark, for this day to surprise you like a thief. |
