1Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,1Then the LORD said to Moses,
2“Command the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance—the land of Canaan to its boundaries.2“Command the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land of Canaan, it will be allotted to you as an inheritance with these boundaries:
3Your southern border shall be from the Wilderness of Zin along the border of Edom; then your southern border shall extend eastward to the end of the Salt Sea;3Your southern border will extend from the Wilderness of Zin along the border of Edom. On the east, your southern border will run from the end of the Salt Sea,
4your border shall turn from the southern side of the Ascent of Akrabbim, continue to Zin, and be on the south of Kadesh Barnea; then it shall go on to Hazar Addar, and continue to Azmon;4cross south of the Ascent of Akrabbim, continue to Zin, and go south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it will go on to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon,
5the border shall turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and it shall end at the Sea.5where it will turn from Azmon, join the Brook of Egypt, and end at the Sea.
6‘As for the western border, you shall have the Great Sea for a border; this shall be your western border.6Your western border will be the coastline of the Great Sea; this will be your boundary on the west.
7‘And this shall be your northern border: From the Great Sea you shall mark out your border line to Mount Hor;7Your northern border will run from the Great Sea directly to Mount Hor,
8from Mount Hor you shall mark out your border to the entrance of Hamath; then the direction of the border shall be toward Zedad;8and from Mount Hor to Lebo-hamath, then extend to Zedad,
9the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar Enan. This shall be your northern border.9continue to Ziphron, and end at Hazar-enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10‘You shall mark out your eastern border from Hazar Enan to Shepham;10And your eastern border will run straight from Hazar-enan to Shepham,
11the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain; the border shall go down and reach to the eastern side of the Sea of Chinnereth;11then go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Chinnereth.
12the border shall go down along the Jordan, and it shall end at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land with its surrounding boundaries.’ ”12Then the border will go down along the Jordan and end at the Salt Sea. This will be your land, defined by its borders on all sides.”
13Then Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: “This is the land which you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe.13So Moses commanded the Israelites, “Apportion this land by lot as an inheritance. The LORD has commanded that it be given to the nine and a half tribes.
14For the tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and the half-tribe of Manasseh has received its inheritance.14For the tribes of the Reubenites and Gadites, along with the half-tribe of Manasseh, have already received their inheritance.
15The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance on this side of the Jordan, across from Jericho eastward, toward the sunrise.”15These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance across the Jordan from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”
16And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,16Then the LORD said to Moses,
17“These are the names of the men who shall divide the land among you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun.17“These are the names of the men who are to assign the land as an inheritance for you: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
18And you shall take one leader of every tribe to divide the land for the inheritance.18Appoint one leader from each tribe to distribute the land.
19These are the names of the men: from the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh;19These are their names: Caleb son of Jephunneh from the tribe of Judah;
20from the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud;20Shemuel son of Ammihud from the tribe of Simeon;
21from the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon;21Elidad son of Chislon from the tribe of Benjamin;
22a leader from the tribe of the children of Dan, Bukki the son of Jogli;22Bukki son of Jogli, a leader from the tribe of Dan;
23from the sons of Joseph: a leader from the tribe of the children of Manasseh, Hanniel the son of Ephod,23Hanniel son of Ephod, a leader from the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph;
24and a leader from the tribe of the children of Ephraim, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan;24Kemuel son of Shiphtan, a leader from the tribe of Ephraim;
25a leader from the tribe of the children of Zebulun, Elizaphan the son of Parnach;25Eli-zaphan son of Parnach, a leader from the tribe of Zebulun;
26a leader from the tribe of the children of Issachar, Paltiel the son of Azzan;26Paltiel son of Azzan, a leader from the tribe of Issachar;
27a leader from the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud the son of Shelomi;27Ahihud son of Shelomi, a leader from the tribe of Asher;
28and a leader from the tribe of the children of Naphtali, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.”28and Pedahel son of Ammihud, a leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29These are the ones the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance among the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.29These are the ones whom the LORD commanded to apportion the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
