An evil man is rebellious to the core. He does not fear God, |
| 2In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. | 2for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. |
| 3The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. | 3The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right. |
| 4Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. | 4He plans ways to sin while he lies in bed; he is committed to a sinful lifestyle; he does not reject what is evil. |
| 5Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. | 5O LORD, your loyal love reaches to the sky; your faithfulness to the clouds. |
| 6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, LORD, preserve both people and animals. | 6Your justice is like the highest mountains, your fairness like the deepest sea; you preserve mankind and the animal kingdom. |
