A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! | 1A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. O LORD, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me. |
Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." | 2Many are saying of my soul, "There is no deliverance for him in God." Selah. |
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. | 3But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. |
I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. | 4I was crying to the LORD with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. |
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. | 5I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me. |
I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. | 6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me round about. |
Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. | 7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked. |
From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. | 8Salvation belongs to the LORD; Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah. |
