A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! | 1LORD, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me. |
Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." | 2Many say about me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah |
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. | 3But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. |
I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. | 4I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah |
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. | 5I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the LORD sustains me. |
I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. | 6I will not be afraid of thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side. |
Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. | 7Rise up, LORD! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. |
From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. | 8Salvation belongs to the LORD; may your blessing be on your people. Selah |
