New International VersionKing James Bible
For the director of music. To the tune of "Lilies." Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding song. My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.1To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves. My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.2Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.3Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.
In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds.4And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.5Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.6Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.7Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.8All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.
Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.9Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father's house.10Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;
Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.11So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
The city of Tyre will come with a gift, people of wealth will seek your favor.12And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.
All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold.13The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her-- those brought to be with her.14She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
Led in with joy and gladness, they enter the palace of the king.15With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.
Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.16Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.
I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.17I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
