| 1For the music director; a psalm of David. O LORD, the king rejoices in the strength you give; he takes great delight in the deliverance you provide. | 1For the director of music. A psalm of David. The king rejoices in your strength, LORD. How great is his joy in the victories you give! |
| 2You grant him his heart's desire; you do not refuse his request. (Selah) | 2You have granted him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. |
| 3For you bring him rich blessings; you place a golden crown on his head. | 3You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. |
| 4He asked you to sustain his life, and you have granted him long life and an enduring dynasty. | 4He asked you for life, and you gave it to him-- length of days, for ever and ever. |
| 5Your deliverance brings him great honor; you give him majestic splendor. | 5Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty. |
| 6For you grant him lasting blessings; you give him great joy by allowing him into your presence. | 6Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. |

| 9You burn them up like a fiery furnace when you appear; the LORD angrily devours them; the fire consumes them. | 9When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them. |
| 10You destroy their offspring from the earth, their descendants from among the human race. | 10You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind. |
| 11Yes, they intend to do you harm; they dream up a scheme, but they do not succeed. | 11Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed. |
| 12For you make them retreat when you shoot your arrows at them. | 12You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow. |
| 13Rise up, O LORD, in strength! We will sing and praise your power! | 13Be exalted in your strength, LORD; we will sing and praise your might. |
