NET Bible | New International Version |
I love the LORD because he heard my plea for mercy, | 1I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. |
and listened to me. As long as I live, I will call to him when I need help. | 2Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. |
The ropes of death tightened around me, the snares of Sheol confronted me. I was confronted with trouble and sorrow. | 3The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. |
I called on the name of the LORD, "Please LORD, rescue my life!" | 4Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, save me!" |
The LORD is merciful and fair; our God is compassionate. | 5The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. |
The LORD protects the untrained; I was in serious trouble and he delivered me. | 6The LORD protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. |
Rest once more, my soul, for the LORD has vindicated you. | 7Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. |
Yes, LORD, you rescued my life from death, and kept my feet from stumbling. | 8For you, LORD, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, |
I will serve the LORD in the land of the living. | 9that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living. |
I had faith when I said, "I am severely oppressed." | 10I trusted in the LORD when I said, "I am greatly afflicted"; |
I rashly declared, "All men are liars." | 11in my alarm I said, "Everyone is a liar." |
How can I repay the LORD for all his acts of kindness to me? | 12What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me? |
I will celebrate my deliverance, and call on the name of the LORD. | 13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD before all his people. | 14I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. |
The LORD values the lives of his faithful followers. | 15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. |
Yes, LORD! I am indeed your servant; I am your lowest slave. You saved me from death. | 16Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains. |
I will present a thank offering to you, and call on the name of the LORD. | 17I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD before all his people, | 18I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, |
in the courts of the LORD's temple, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! | 19in the courts of the house of the LORD-- in your midst, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD. |
