Psalm 48
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
A song, a psalm by the Korahites. The LORD is great and certainly worthy of praise in the city of our God, his holy hill. 1Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,
It is lofty and pleasing to look at, a source of joy to the whole earth. Mount Zion resembles the peaks of Zaphon; it is the city of the great king. 2beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.
God is in its fortresses; he reveals himself as its defender. 3Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.
For look, the kings assemble; they advance together. 4For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together.
As soon as they see, they are shocked; they are terrified, they quickly retreat. 5As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight.
Look at them shake uncontrollably, like a woman writhing in childbirth. 6Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor.
With an east wind you shatter the large ships. 7By the east wind you shattered the ships of Tarshish.
We heard about God's mighty deeds, now we have seen them, in the city of the LORD, the invincible Warrior, in the city of our God. God makes it permanently secure. (Selah) 8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah
We reflect on your loyal love, O God, within your temple. 9We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.
The praise you receive as far away as the ends of the earth is worthy of your reputation, O God. You execute justice! 10As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Mount Zion rejoices; the towns of Judah are happy, because of your acts of judgment. 11Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!
Walk around Zion! Encircle it! Count its towers! 12Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers,
Consider its defenses! Walk through its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! 13consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation
For God, our God, is our defender forever! He guides us! 14that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.
