When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought aromatic spices so that they might go and anoint him.1When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.
And very early on the first day of the week, at sunrise, they went to the tomb.2And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.
They had been asking each other, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"3And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled back.4And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large.
Then as they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.5And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed.
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been raised! He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him.6And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.
But go, tell his disciples, even Peter, that he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you."7But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”
Then they went out and ran from the tomb, for terror and bewilderment had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. 8And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
[[Early on the first day of the week, after he arose, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons.9[[Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.
She went out and told those who were with him, while they were mourning and weeping.10She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
And when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe. 11But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it.
After this he appeared in a different form to two of them while they were on their way to the country.12After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.
They went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.13And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.
Then he appeared to the eleven themselves, while they were eating, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him resurrected.14Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.15And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned.16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;17And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
they will pick up snakes with their hands, and whatever poison they drink will not harm them; they will place their hands on the sick and they will be well."18they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.19So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
They went out and proclaimed everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through the accompanying signs.]] 20And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.]]
