| 1A Mikhtam of David. Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You. | 1A miktam of David. Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. |
| 2I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good besides You." | 2I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." |
| 3As for the saints who are in the earth, They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight. | 3I say of the holy people who are in the land, "They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight." |
| 4The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor will I take their names upon my lips. | 4Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips. |
| 5The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. | 5LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. |
| 6The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me. | 6The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. |
| 7I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. | 7I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. |
| 8I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. | 8I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. |
| 9Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely. | 9Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, |
| 10For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. | 10because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. |
| 11You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. | 11You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. |
