Psalm 10
NASB Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Christian Standard Bible
Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?1LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide in times of trouble?
In pride the wicked hotly pursue the afflicted; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.2In arrogance the wicked relentlessly pursue their victims; let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.
For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, And the greedy man curses and spurns the LORD.3For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the LORD.
The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, "There is no God."4In all his scheming, the wicked person arrogantly thinks, "There's no accountability, since there's no God."
His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.5His ways are always secure; your lofty judgments have no effect on him; he scoffs at all his adversaries.
He says to himself, "I will not be moved; Throughout all generations I will not be in adversity."6He says to himself, "I will never be moved--from generation to generation without calamity."
His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.7Cursing, deceit, and violence fill his mouth; trouble and malice are under his tongue.
He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.8He waits in ambush near settlements; he kills the innocent in secret places. His eyes are on the lookout for the helpless;
He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair; He lurks to catch the afflicted; He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.9he lurks in secret like a lion in a thicket. He lurks in order to seize a victim; he seizes a victim and drags him in his net.
He crouches, he bows down, And the unfortunate fall by his mighty ones.10So he is oppressed and beaten down; helpless people fall because of the wicked one's strength.
He says to himself, "God has forgotten; He has hidden His face; He will never see it."11He says to himself, "God has forgotten; he hides his face and will never see."
Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up Your hand. Do not forget the afflicted.12Rise up, LORD God! Lift up your hand. Do not forget the oppressed.
Why has the wicked spurned God? He has said to himself, "You will not require it."13Why has the wicked person despised God? He says to himself, "You will not demand an account."
You have seen it, for You have beheld mischief and vexation to take it into Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You have been the helper of the orphan.14But you yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into your hands. The helpless one entrusts himself to you; you are a helper of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer, Seek out his wickedness until You find none.15Break the arm of the wicked, evil person, until you look for his wickedness, but it can't be found.
The LORD is King forever and ever; Nations have perished from His land.16The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.
O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear17LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,
To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed, So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.18doing justice for the fatherless and the oppressed so that mere humans from the earth may terrify them no more.
