King James Bible | New International Version |
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, | 1The LORD said to Moses, |
Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually. | 2"Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually. |
Without the vail of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations. | 3Outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the LORD from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. |
He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick before the LORD continually. | 4The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD must be tended continually. |
And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake. | 5"Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using two-tenths of an ephah for each loaf. |
And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD. | 6Arrange them in two stacks, six in each stack, on the table of pure gold before the LORD. |
And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD. | 7By each stack put some pure incense as a memorial portion to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the LORD. |
Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. | 8This bread is to be set out before the LORD regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant. |
And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute. | 9It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in the sanctuary area, because it is a most holy part of their perpetual share of the food offerings presented to the LORD." |
And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp; | 10Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite. |
And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:) | 11The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so they brought him to Moses. (His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.) |
And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them. | 12They put him in custody until the will of the LORD should be made clear to them. |
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, | 13Then the LORD said to Moses: |
Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him. | 14"Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. |
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin. | 15Say to the Israelites: 'Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible; |
And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death. | 16anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death. |
And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death. | 17"'Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death. |
And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast. | 18Anyone who takes the life of someone's animal must make restitution--life for life. |
And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; | 19Anyone who injures their neighbor is to be injured in the same manner: |
Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again. | 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury. |
And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death. | 21Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death. |
Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God. | 22You are to have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.'" |
And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses. | 23Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the LORD commanded Moses. |
