KJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:1But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.2Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;3Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,4so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.5to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.6Likewise urge the young men to be sensible;
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,7in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.8sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;9Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,
Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.10not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;12instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;13looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.14who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.15These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
