King James Bible | English Standard Version |
I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. | 1I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. |
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. | 2Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. |
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. | 3The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. |
Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. | 4Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!” |
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. | 5Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful. |
The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. | 6The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. |
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. | 7Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. |
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. | 8For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; |
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. | 9I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. |
I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted: | 10I believed, even when I spoke: “I am greatly afflicted”; |
I said in my haste, All men are liars. | 11I said in my alarm, “All mankind are liars.” |
What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? | 12What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? |
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. | 13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, |
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people. | 14I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. |
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. | 15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. |
O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. | 16O LORD, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds. |
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD. | 17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people, | 18I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, |
In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD. | 19in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! |
