To the chief Musician on Neginoth upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.1LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger; do not discipline me in your wrath.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.2Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking;
My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?3my whole being is shaken with terror. And you, LORD--how long?
Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.4Turn, LORD! Rescue me; save me because of your faithful love.
For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?5For there is no remembrance of you in death; who can thank you in Sheol?
I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.6I am weary from my groaning; with my tears I dampen my bed and drench my couch every night.
Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.7My eyes are swollen from grief; they grow old because of all my enemies.
Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.8Depart from me, all evildoers, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.
The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.9The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer.
Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.10All my enemies will be ashamed and shake with terror; they will turn back and suddenly be disgraced.
