Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.1In addition, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. To write to you again about this is no trouble for me and is a safeguard for you.
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.2Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh.
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.3For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, boast in Christ Jesus, and do not put confidence in the flesh--
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:4although I have reasons for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:
Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;5circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee;
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.6regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless.
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.7But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ.
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,8More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ--the righteousness from God based on faith.
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;10My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death,
If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.11assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.12Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,13Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.14I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.15Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you.
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.16In any case, we should live up to whatever truth we have attained.
Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.17Join in imitating me, brothers and sisters, and pay careful attention to those who live according to the example you have in us.
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:18For I have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)19Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame. They are focused on earthly things,
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:20but our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.21He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.
