| 1After Jesus had said this, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, so that the Son may glorify you. | 1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. |
| 2For you have given him authority over all humanity so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him. | 2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. |
| 3And this is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent—Jesus the Messiah. | 3Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. |
| 4I glorified you on earth by completing the task you gave me to do. | 4I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. |
| 5"So now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world existed. | 5And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. |
| 6I have made your name known to these men whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. | 6"I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. |
| 7Now they realize that everything you gave me comes from you, | 7Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. |
| 8because the words that you gave me I passed on to them. They have received them and know for sure that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me. | 8For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. |
| 9"I am asking on their behalf. I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you gave me, because they are yours. | 9I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. |
| 10All that is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine, and I have been glorified through them. | 10All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. |
| 11I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your Name, the Name that you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one. | 11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. |
| 12While I was with them, I protected them by the authority that you gave me. I guarded them, and not one of them became lost except the one who was destined for destruction, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled. | 12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. | 15I'm not asking you to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one. | 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. |

| 23I am in them, and you are in me. May they be completely one, so that the world may know that you sent me and that you have loved them as you loved me. | 23I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity.
