| 1After Jesus had said this, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, so that the Son may glorify you. | 1Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, |
| 2For you have given him authority over all humanity so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him. | 2since you gave him authority over all flesh, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him. |
| 3And this is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent—Jesus the Messiah. | 3This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent--Jesus Christ. |
| 4I glorified you on earth by completing the task you gave me to do. | 4I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do. |
| 5"So now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world existed. | 5Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed. |
| 6I have made your name known to these men whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. | 6"I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from the world. They were yours, you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. |

| 9"I am asking on their behalf. I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you gave me, because they are yours. | 9"I pray for them. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because they are yours. |
| 10All that is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine, and I have been glorified through them. | 10Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine, and I am glorified in them. |
| 11I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your Name, the Name that you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one. | 11I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. | 12While I was with them, I protected them by the authority that you gave me.
