International Standard VersionKing James Bible
Then I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand. 1I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
I asked, "Where are you going?" He responded, "To measure Jerusalem in order to determine its width and length."2Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
Look! That angel who was talking to me left, and another angel came forward to meet him. 3And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
That other angel told him, "Run and tell that young man: 'Jerusalem will be an inhabited city without walls due to the number of people and livestock within it. 4And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
I myself will be an encircling rampart of fire,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be the glory in her midst.'5For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
"'Come now! Come now! Flee from the land of the north,' declares the LORD, 'for I have dispersed you like the four winds of heaven,' declares the LORD.6Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.
"'Come now, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the residents of Babylon. 7Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
For this is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says: "In pursuit of glory I was sent to the nations who plundered you, because whoever injures you injures the pupil of my eye. 8For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
And look, I will shake my fist over them, and they will become plunder for their former slaves. And you will know that the LORD of the Heavenly Armies sent me."'"9For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
"Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion! Take note! I am coming to live in your midst," declares the LORD. 10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
"Many nations will cling to the LORD at that time and will become my people. I will live in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of the Heavenly Armies has sent me to you. 11And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
The LORD will take possession of Judah as his own property in the Holy Land—and he will choose Jerusalem again. 12And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
Be silent, every living thing, in the presence of the LORD, because he is emerging from his Holy Place."13Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
