Let brotherly love continue. 1Let brotherly love continue.
Stop neglecting to show hospitality to strangers, for by showing hospitality some have had angels as their guests without being aware of it. 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Continue to remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them, as well as those who are mistreated, since they also are only mortal. 3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
Let marriage be kept honorable in every way, and the marriage bed undefiled. For God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for God has said, "I will never leave you or abandon you."5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hence we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?" 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Remember your leaders, those who have spoken God's word to you. Think about the impact of their lives, and imitate their faith. 7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Jesus, the Messiah, is the same yesterday and today—and forever!8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Stop being carried away by all kinds of unusual teachings, for it is good that the heart be strengthened by grace, not by food laws that have never helped those who follow them.9Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
We have an altar, and those who serve in the tent have no right to eat at it. 10We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
For the bodies of animals, whose blood is taken into the sanctuary by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. 11For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
That is why Jesus, in order to sanctify the people by his own blood, also suffered outside the city gate. 12Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Therefore go to him outside the camp and endure the insults he endured. 13Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
For here we have no permanent city but are looking for the one that is coming. 14For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
Therefore, through him let us always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess his name. 15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Do not neglect to do good and to be generous, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.16But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Continue to follow and be submissive to your leaders, since they are watching over your souls as those who will have to give a word of explanation. By doing this, you will be letting them carry out their duties joyfully, and not with grief, for that would be harmful for you.17Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. 18Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
I especially ask you to do this so that I may be brought back to you sooner.19But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.
Now may the God of peace, who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep, 20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
equip you with everything good to do his will, accomplishing in us what pleases him through Jesus, the Messiah. To him be glory forever and ever! Amen.21Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I urge you, brothers, to listen patiently to my encouraging message, for I have written you a short letter.22And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.
You should know that our brother Timothy has been set free. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you.23Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy greet you.24Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.
May grace be with all of you! 25Grace be with you all. Amen.
