Timothy 2
ISV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionEnglish Standard Version
First of all, then, I urge you to offer to God petitions, prayers, intercessions, and expressions of thanks for all people, 1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
for kings, and for everyone who has authority, so that we might lead a quiet and peaceful life with all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 3This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
who wants all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully. 4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and human beings—a human, the Messiah Jesus. 5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
He gave himself as a ransom for everyone, the testimony at the proper time. 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
For this reason I was appointed to be an announcer, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the gentiles. (I am telling you the truth. I am not lying.)7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without being angry or argumentative. 8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;
Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, 9likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,
but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God.10but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
Let a woman learn with a quiet spirit, and submissively. 11Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
Moreover, in the area of teaching, I am not allowing a woman to instigate conflict toward a man. Instead, she is to remain calm. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve, 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve;
and it was not Adam who was deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became disobedient, 14and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
even though she will be saved through the birth of the Child, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, along with good judgment. 15Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
