| 10A woman came to meet him dressed like a prostitute, having a hidden agenda. | 10And behold, a woman comes to meet him, Dressed as a harlot and cunning of heart. |
| 11She is loud and defiant; her feet do not stay at home. | 11She is boisterous and rebellious, Her feet do not remain at home; |
| 12Now in the street, now in the squares, she lurks at every corner. | 12She is now in the streets, now in the squares, And lurks by every corner. |
| 13She grabs him and kisses him; she brazenly says to him," | 13So she seizes him and kisses him And with a brazen face she says to him: |
| 14I've made fellowship offerings; today I've fulfilled my vows. | 14"I was due to offer peace offerings; Today I have paid my vows. |
| 15So I came out to meet you, to search for you, and I've found you. | 15"Therefore I have come out to meet you, To seek your presence earnestly, and I have found you. |
| 16I've spread coverings on my bed-- richly colored linen from Egypt. | 16"I have spread my couch with coverings, With colored linens of Egypt. |
| 17I've perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. | 17"I have sprinkled my bed With myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. |
| 18Come, let's drink deeply of lovemaking until morning. Let's feast on each other's love! | 18"Come, let us drink our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with caresses. |
| 19My husband isn't home; he went on a long journey. | 19"For my husband is not at home, He has gone on a long journey; |
| 20He took a bag of money with him and will come home at the time of the full moon." | 20He has taken a bag of money with him, At the full moon he will come home." |
| 21She seduces him with her persistent pleading; she lures with her flattering talk. | 21With her many persuasions she entices him; With her flattering lips she seduces him. |
| 22He follows her impulsively like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer bounding toward a trap | 22Suddenly he follows her As an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as one in fetters to the discipline of a fool, |
| 23until an arrow pierces its liver, like a bird darting into a snare-- he doesn't know it will cost him his life. | 23Until an arrow pierces through his liver; As a bird hastens to the snare, So he does not know that it will cost him his life. |
| 24Now, my sons, listen to me, and pay attention to the words of my mouth. | 24Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, And pay attention to the words of my mouth. |
| 25Don't let your heart turn aside to her ways; don't stray onto her paths. | 25Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths. |
| 26For she has brought many down to death; her victims are countless. | 26For many are the victims she has cast down, And numerous are all her slain. |
