| 1So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. | 1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. |
| 2Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. | 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. |
| 3For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. | 3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. |
| 4When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. | 4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. |
| 5Therefore, put to death what belongs to your worldly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. | 5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: |
| 6Because of these, God's wrath comes on the disobedient, | 6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: |
| 7and you once walked in these things when you were living in them. | 7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. |
| 8But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth. | 8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. |
| 9Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices | 9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; |
| 10and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator. | 10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: |
| 11In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all. | 11Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. |
| 12Therefore, God's chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, | 12Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; |
| 13accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. | 13Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. |
| 14Above all, put on love--the perfect bond of unity. | 14And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. |
| 15And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful. | 15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. |
| 16Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. | 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. |
| 17And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. | 17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. |
| 18Wives, be submissive to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. | 18Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. |
| 19Husbands, love your wives and don't be bitter toward them. | 19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. |
| 20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. | 20Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. |

| 22Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. | 23Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, | 23And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; |
| 24knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ. | 24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. |
| 25For the wrongdoer will be paid back for whatever wrong he has done, and there is no favoritism. | 25But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. |
