| 1For the choir director. A psalm of David, the LORD's servant. An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked person: There is no dread of God before his eyes, | 1An oracle that came to me about the transgressions of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. |
| 2for in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to discover and hate his sin. | 2He flatters himself too much to discover his transgression and hate it. |
| 3The words of his mouth are malicious and deceptive; he has stopped acting wisely and doing good. | 3The words from his mouth are vain and deceptive. He has abandoned behaving wisely and doing good. |
| 4Even on his bed he makes malicious plans. He sets himself on a path that is not good and does not reject evil. | 4He devises iniquity on his bed and is determined to follow a path that is not good. He does not resist evil. |
| 5 LORD, Your faithful love reaches to heaven, Your faithfulness to the clouds. | 5Your gracious love, LORD, reaches to the heavens; your truth extends to the skies. |
| 6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments, like the deepest sea. LORD, You preserve man and beast. | 6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your justice is like the great depths of the sea. You deliver both people and animals, LORD. |
| 7God, Your faithful love is so valuable that people take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. | 7How precious is your gracious love, God! The children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings. |
| 8They are filled from the abundance of Your house; You let them drink from Your refreshing stream, | 8They are refreshed from the abundance of your house; You cause them to drink from the river of your pleasures. |
| 9for with You is life's fountain. In Your light we will see light. | 9For with you is a fountain of life, and in your light we will see light. |
| 10Spread Your faithful love over those who know You, and Your righteousness over the upright in heart. | 10Send forth your gracious love to those who know you, and your righteousness to those who are upright in heart. |
| 11Do not let the foot of the arrogant man come near me or the hand of the wicked one drive me away. | 11Do not let the foot of the proud crush me; and do not let the hand of the wicked dissuade me. |
| 12There the evildoers fall; they have been thrown down and cannot rise. | 12There, those who do evil have fallen; They have been thrown down, and they cannot get up. |
