ESV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNET Bible
And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand!1I looked again, and there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
Then I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”2I asked, "Where are you going?" He replied, "To measure Jerusalem in order to determine its width and its length."
And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him3At this point the angelic messenger who spoke to me went out, and another messenger came to meet him
and said to him, “Run, say to that young man, ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it.4and said to him, "Hurry, speak to this young man as follows: 'Jerusalem will no longer be enclosed by walls because of the multitude of people and animals there.
And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”5But I (the LORD says) will be a wall of fire surrounding Jerusalem and the source of glory in her midst.'"
Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the LORD. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the LORD.6"You there! Flee from the northland!" says the LORD, "for like the four winds of heaven I have scattered you," says the LORD.
Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.7"Escape, Zion, you who live among the Babylonians!"
For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye:8For the LORD who rules over all says to me that for his own glory he has sent me to the nations that plundered you--for anyone who touches you touches the pupil of his eye.
“Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.9"I am about to punish them in such a way," he says, "that they will be looted by their own slaves." Then you will know that the LORD who rules over all has sent me.
Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD.10"Sing out and be happy, Zion my daughter! For look, I have come; I will settle in your midst," says the LORD.
And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.11"Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on the day of salvation, and they will also be my people. Indeed, I will settle in the midst of you all." Then you will know that the LORD who rules over all has sent me to you.
And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.”12The LORD will take possession of Judah as his portion in the holy land and he will choose Jerusalem once again.
Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.13Be silent in the LORD's presence, all people everywhere, for he is being moved to action in his holy dwelling place.
