| 1Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. | 1Now concerning the collection for the saints, you should follow the directions I gave to the churches in Galatia. |
| 2On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. | 2After the Sabbath ends, each of you should set aside and save something from your surplus in proportion to what you have, so that no collections will have to be made when I arrive. |
| 3And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. | 3When I arrive, I will send letters along with the men you approve to take your gift to Jerusalem. |

| 16be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer. | 16to submit yourselves to people like these and to anyone else who shares their labor and hard work. |
| 17I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence, | 17I am glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus came here, because what was lacking they have supplied through you. |
