Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,1Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.2through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God's glory.
Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;3Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
perseverance, character; and character, hope.4and endurance, character, and character, hope.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.5And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.6For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.7(For rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person perhaps someone might possibly dare to die.)
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.8But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!9Much more then, because we have now been declared righteous by his blood, we will be saved through him from God's wrath.
For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, since we have been reconciled, will we be saved by his life?
Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.11Not only this, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.12So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people because all sinned--
For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law.13for before the law was given, sin was in the world, but there is no accounting for sin when there is no law.
Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.14Yet death reigned from Adam until Moses even over those who did not sin in the same way that Adam (who is a type of the coming one) transgressed.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!15But the gracious gift is not like the transgression. For if the many died through the transgression of the one man, how much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man Jesus Christ multiply to the many!
Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification.16And the gift is not like the one who sinned. For judgment, resulting from the one transgression, led to condemnation, but the gracious gift from the many failures led to justification.
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!17For if, by the transgression of the one man, death reigned through the one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ!
So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men.18Consequently, just as condemnation for all people came through one transgression, so too through the one righteous act came righteousness leading to life for all people.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.19For just as through the disobedience of the one man many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous.
The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,20Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,
so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.21so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
