Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand. | 1I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. |
“Where are you going?” I asked. “To measure Jerusalem,” he replied, “and to determine its width and length.” | 2Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof. |
Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him | 3And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, |
and said to him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and livestock within it. | 4And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein: |
For I will be a wall of fire around it, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within it.’ ” | 5For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. |
“Get up! Get up! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD. | 6Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD. |
“Get up, O Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the Daughter of Babylon!” | 7Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. |
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “After His Glory has sent Me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye— | 8For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. |
I will surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.” | 9For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me. |
“Shout for joy and be glad, O Daughter of Zion, for I am coming to dwell among you,” declares the LORD. | 10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD. |
“On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. | 11And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee. |
And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem. | 12And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again. |
Be silent before the LORD, all people, for He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.” | 13Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. |
