Colossians 3
BSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
Berean Study BibleEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.1If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.2Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.3For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.4When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.6On account of these the wrath of God is coming.
When you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways.7In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.
But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.8But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,9Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all and is in all.11Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.12Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
Bear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.13bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.14And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.19Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.22Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,23Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.25For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
